CHURCH SCHOOLS

SCHOOL LINKS

The Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea Circuit are fortunate to have two Methodist Schools in its area.  The foundation documents of these schools set out the involvement of the Methodist Church in the ongoing governance and ethos of the activities.  Our ministers are ex-officio governors, and are joined by Methodist elected  lay people who have a passion for the education of young people. These are not faith schools, but they are schools where all activities are set around a Christian vision.  Our schools are both joint ventures with our Anglican partners, and now both part of the Bath & Wells Multi Academy Trust.

Rev Steve says:

Education is an important strand in the history of the Methodist Church and its current mission, and  I am delighted that being a minister in the Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea Methodist Circuit includes being a Governor of St Mark’s school. As governors of the school we work alongside staff, and parents to develop and deliver education with a particular focus on Christian ethos whilst delivering high academic achievements, enabling all children to develop to their full potential.  Our new school vision statement ‘Let your light shine’ weaves its way through all the activities of the school. Children of all abilities are encouraged to be champions of justice and love within our community and in the wider world, giving them the best possible foundation for their lives.
